New Orleans, LA – Launched in 2008, Iggie’s House, Inc. “A Nia Renee Robertson Foundation” project is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that was created in honor and memory of Nia Renee’ Robertson. Nia was a beautiful 28 year old young woman who had A Graceful Spirit, A Giving Heart, and A Beautiful Soul. Nia was a loving presence and had a gift for reaching out to others no matter who they were…
She was always open to every person no matter their race, color, creed, or culture.
Emile and Marvel M. Robertson, with the help of close friends and family, started the foundation to keep Nia’s spirit of love alive. Iggie’s House, Inc.’ mission is to provide scholarships to high school and college students, develop leadership skills through career mentoring, to promote communication among young people of all races and cultures to help better their community.
Since 2008, the foundation, through the help of its generous donors has awarded over $10,000 in scholarships to students in the Greater New Orleans area. These students have gone on to various colleges and universities including: Xavier, LSU, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, and Spring Hill College to pursue their education.
The following 2016 winners of the Iggie’s House, Inc. “A Nia Renee Robertson Foundation” scholarships not only excelled in their school studies, but also exhibited a “Spirit of Giving Back” to the community.

Candace Smith of Ursuline Academy, a beautiful young woman whose Christian faith and passion, is to help others overcome trouble in their lives. Her favorite quote is “If not me, then who and if not now, then when”. She will be attending Mississippi State in the fall to study Marketing and Communications.

VonDerrick Taylor of Eleanor McMain and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) graduate, is dedicated to his gift of acting and creativity while also serving his community at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. VonDerrick has used his creativity to write, direct, and perform plays in the community. Like his favorite actor Dwayne Johnson, he wants to live by the words “Be humble, be hungry, and always be the hardest working person in the room.” Von Derrick will be heading off to Boston University to continue his education.

Taylor Jackson a Beta Honor Roll student of St. Mary’s Dominican High School very quickly shows her very independent nature and vision for what direction she wants her life to go. Being an only child, creating friendships with many different types of people is part of who she is and in doing so has developed her desire to be there for others. This is part of the reason she will be pursuing a career in nursing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and become a leader that will be a blessing to others.
